Donate Life

January 31, 2007

I saw this ad, featuring the late Jerry Orbach on the subway on the way home from work tonight. I went home, visited The Eye-Bank website, and registered with the New York State Donate Life Registry.

I continued surfing and found the national Donate Life website. This site has state-by-state info on organ donation, how you can register to be an organ donor, and information about the organ donation process.

To think of others in a time of grief and sorrow is truly compassionate and selfless. Please consider the gift of life: organ and tissue donation.

Thousands of Americans are in need of vital organ and tissues. For many, the chance to live a full life won’t come unless many more of us consider organ and tissue donation. Discuss organ donation with your family and friends. Help others find a chance to live a full life. Talk to your family about organ donation. Talk to your family about donating LIFE.

A Bit About Archangel Cards

January 26, 2007

My favorite to work with are the Archangel Oracle Cards, by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D. It’s a set of 45 cards, 3 for each of the 15 Archangels featured in the deck, plus a guide book. Each card has a different picture of an Archangel, along with a theme and short message. The book contains additional inspiring messages about each card, as well and more detailed information about each Archangel, as well as how to connect and work with them.

I have found them to be the most inspiring and accurate for me, personally. When I first opened the deck, the first thing that struck me was how colorful the images are. Anyone who knows me, knows I like colors! So, I connected to these cards visually right away! I have been amazed by the accuracy of my readings, and the guidance I’ve received, both for myself and others. They always seem to give exactly the right message and guidance at the right time.

I’ve also found them to be very easy to connect with on an level, and to interpret intuitively beyond the text in the guide book. This is something I’ve struggled with in the past with my previous card reading efforts. I’d get the general gist of what the card was saying, but not much beyond that. With the Archangel Oracle Cards, I find that I get a great deal of intuitive hits specifically related to the individual I’m reading, and the current focus of the reading.

For those who want to learn how to give readings, I’d also recommend the How to Give an Angel Reading Kit, which includes a deck of Archangel Oracle Cards, along with an instructional DVD.

Coming Out of the Closet as a Medium

January 20, 2007

When I checked my e-mail last night after work, I found an invitation to join a professional networking site, sent to me by a former co-worker. I signed up, and was in the process of adding information to my profile, when I made a big decision. I decided to include a link to this site, and include the words “ and ” in my profile info.

At first, I was waffling about including them, since there are several people on the site who I either worked with, or worked for, who might think I’ve gone off the deep end entirely. Then I thought, no, this is what I do, and this is part of who I am. I have a . I talk to . They talk back. Somehow, I just know things. I’m multi-talented - what can I say?

Granted, it’s not a skill I’d be likely to include on a job application, but it’s not something I need to hide, either. Will some people, upon discovering my secret life as a medium, act like I’ve suddenly sprouted three heads, each wearing its own aluminum foil hat? Possibly. It’s equally possible that some will find the subject fascinating. At this point in my life, it’s a risk I’m willing to take.

Is it scary? Absolutely! Then again, so was getting up on “stage” with James Van Praagh and doing my first audience reading. But doing it was also one of the most incredibly validating experiences as far as my gift is concerned. Besides, most of my friends already know I’m a weirdo, anyway! One more little “idiosyncracy” isn’t going to hurt.

If You Haven’t Already Discovered It…

January 15, 2007

Hay House Radio has several online radio programs dedicated to mediumship, working with your guides, and other topics of interest to those of us interested in connecting with Spirit. You can listen to them online, download them to your computer, or subscribe to podcasts that you can listen to on your iPod (which is what I do).

The programs I regularly listen to, in no particular order, are:

Others that look interesting that I either haven’t listened to yet, or haven’t listened to regularly are:

I Did My First Phone Reading!

January 7, 2007

As mentioned here, I’ve started doing live phone readings and Angel Card readings by e-mail through Keen.com.  I’m generally a lot more confident doing e-mail readings, because I can focus solely on the reading and whatever insights and messages I receive, instead of getting tripped up by self-doubt and feeling self-conscious. So, doing phone readings is a big leap of faith for me.

Yesterday afternoon, I had my first call. It was brief, since the caller was limited to her free minutes, but I was much more confident than I thought I’d be. I was actually pleasantly surprised at what I was able to do in the limited time I had available, and I really felt like I was able to help her with the issue in question.

My guides were definitely there helping me out, because just as I would start feeling a bit stumped as to what to say next, something would come through, as if someone were there prompting me. So, I thank my guides tremendously for not allowing me to sound like some kind of babbling idiot.

A Medium’s Goals for 2007

January 1, 2007

I’m not really big on making New Year’s resolutions (or keeping them, for that matter), so I’m focusing instead on a few goals I’d like to accomplish in the year ahead related to further developing my gifts.

  • Find another development circle and/or some other group of like-minded, supportive people to get together with on a semi-regular basis. This may take a bit of time, but as I discovered at the Mediumship Training with James Van Praagh, being around a group of people who are on the same wavelength is not only awesome, it’s incredibly motivating as well.
  • Re-vamp my meditation practice. I’ve found myself getting stuck in a meditation rut lately, and therefore not doing it as often or regularly. So, my goal is to find some new meditation CDs, add some new meditation music and create a separate meditation space in my apartment, even if it’s just a chair and a few candles in the corner of the room.
  • Spend more time trying out and working with various card decks, exercises and tools to discover which ones work best for me, and pass along those that don’t to others who can make better use of them.
  • Avoid and eliminate, as much as possible, people, committments and situations which drain me or otherwise negatively effect me.
  • Trust myself and my gifts, and trust my hunches enough to act on them.
  • Remember to regularly thank those on the other side who are watching over me, and ask them for help.
  • Do whatever I need to do in order to avoid wallowing in self-doubt and lack of confidence in my abilities. Remind myself that yes, it was me who got up and gave a very accurate audience reading for a total stranger in front of a room full of gifted mediums and James Van Praagh, and if I could do that, I must have a gift and it’s not all in my head.

That last one will probably be the biggest challenge, but I’m game!

 Happy New Year all!
