Musings, love and laughter from the other side

At least I think I am:-)

For those who have posted comments in the past few months, my apologies for not responding. I’ve been busy with my now not-so-new job, and seriously neglecting this blog in the process.

But, overall, things are going well. The new job is going great, my finances are finally starting to get back in order after my hospitalizations for cellulitis back in April/May and the subsequent loss of my job, and life in general is pretty hunky-dory. The cellulitis hasn’t recurred, so healthwise, things are looking good. The only downside is that I haven’t been as focused on developing my gifts as I could be. Part of it is due to my work schedule, but I’ve also been spending too much time on computer games lately. Writing here this morning is part of my attempts to shift my focus back to more important matters than getting a high score on “The Black Knight”. I’m also about to start working on two areas in my life that really need to be addressed.

For starters, I’ve been a “closet smoker” for the past 2 years or so, and I’m about to quit smoking for the third time in my life. The first time, I quit for 7 years, and the second time, I quit for 6 years. What made me go back to it is nothing other than stupidity, really. So, now I get to go through all the “fun” of quitting all over again! The other area I’m going to be working on is my weight. While I’ll probably never weigh what I weighed back in my college days, I’ll be happy with getting about 75 pounds off.

Both of these are daunting tasks, no doubt! But, I found a web site yesterday that looks like it will be a really good place for me. It’s called SparkPeople, and it’s a community of people who are interested in making healthy changes in their lives. They have a lot of tools to help you achieve and track your goals, teams you can join (I even found a team of psychics, believe it or not), and a point system that rewards you for tracking your goals, reading articles, posting to message boards, etc. So, I’m going to try it out and see where it leads.
